CNN/YouTube Republican Debate

Yesterday, Bob was appalled and outraged at Wedneday's YouTube debate of Republican presidential candidates on CNN. His main point of contention was that Democrats were allowed to ask questions of the Republicans who were running. Bob claimed this was patently unfair and that it did not happen during the previous YouTube debate of Democratic candidates.

Unfortunately for Bob, the LA Times throws cold water on this theory:
A review by the Los Angeles Times of the debate sponsored by CNN and YouTube four months ago found that the Democratic presidential candidates also faced queries that seemed to come from the conservative perspective. At least two of the citizen-interrogators had clear GOP leanings.
This has got to be one of the stupidest arguments that Dutko has ever made (and stupid arguments are Dutko's forte). Why in the world should questions to presidential candidates be limited to those of his or her party? Whoever becomes President has the power to effect all of our lives, not just those of his or her political party.

So, to recap, (1) Bob was wrong and (2) Bob doesn't make any logical sense. Just another day at the Bob Dutko Show!

Nativity Scenes

Yesterday, Bob said, "it's more difficult to find retailers that are even selling nativity scenes these days."

Bob, please learn to use Google or any of the other fine search engines out there. I put "outdoor nativity" into Google and got a plethora of results. If you can imagine it, someone is selling it.

Plastic nativity sets? Check. Light up nativity scenes? Check. Poly-resin cast? Check. Inflatable? Check. Life sized fiberglass? You bet. An Italian-made set for over $25,000? Why not?

So is Bob really having a hard time finding retailers who are selling nativity scenes? Or is he just trying to, once again, foist his Christian persecution complex on us? I'll go with the latter.

Planned Parenthood

Anybody who has listened to Dutko for an even short period of time realizes that he despises Planned Parenthood. Bob never misses an opportunity to bash the organization with liberal doses of lies and misinformation. To hear Bob describe Planned Parenthood, one would get the impression that this organization exists solely to force teenage girls to have multiple abortions. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.

In actuality, of the 29 Planned Parenthood facilities in Michigan, only two provide abortion services (one in Ann Arbor and one in Kalamazoo). Obviously, these facilities must be doing something other than abortion. This "something else" includes gynecological exams, cancer screening, HIV/AIDS testing, vaginal infection testing and treatment, prenatal care, sexual transmitted infection/disease testing and treatment, adoption counseling, vaccinations, colonoscopies, birth control, and emergency contraception. They even offer vasectomies for the men! In fact, of the over 10 million services provided by Planned Parenthood in 2005, only 3% were abortion related.

But Bob let none of these facts get in the way of his gloating about the possible closing of five Planned Parenthood facilities in Michigan due to state funding cuts. Today, he read gleefully from an article in the extreme right-wing "Cybercast News Service." Just take a few seconds and listen to Dutko take pleasure in the fact that women, including poor women who don't have health insurance, will now be denied these important medical treatments.

Bob is so fucking stupid that he actually seems to believe that by the closure of these clinics that "babies" won't be "murdered." HEY MORON! THEY DON'T EVEN PERFORM ABORTIONS AT THE CLINICS THEY'RE CLOSING! Not one single fetus will be harmed by these closures. Only women will be harmed.

At one point in his rant, Bob says that abortion is a "huge moneymaker for Planned Parenthood," that they "pocket several hundred bucks" for each abortion, and that it's "killing babies for profit." This is, of course, pure bullshit. Bob is apparently confusing for-profit businesses, like Crawford Broadcasting, from non-profit organizations, like Planned Parenthood. Since Planned Parenthood is non-profit it logically can't be "killing babies for profit"or pocketing any money whatsoever. There's no shareholders or owners to pay! Please Bob, for the love of God, stop lying!

I have to assume that Bob knows these facts. Unfortunately, then I have to assume that preventing abortion isn't Bob's only goal. His goal must then include the control and subjugation of women. Why else would Bob show glee in denying women safe gynecological exams, HIV testing, and birth control?

Bob Dutko: Contemptible Ghoul.

By the way, if you'd really like to piss Bob off, I suggest making a contribution to Planned Parenthood.

Bob attacks AP for Clinton Puff Piece but Ignores Reality

Today, Bob claimed that "Hillary Clinton has the mainstream media helping her." To prove this assertion, he cited this Associated Press story which detailed that Hillary went to church before going out campaigning last Sunday. Admittedly, this story was a "puff piece", i.e., an uncritical article that only asserts positive or inconsequential information. Some might refer to such an article as a "human interest story."

Bob was livid about this story. He called it a "propaganda piece" and said it "sounds like a Clinton campaign press release." Bob also condemns the AP for not publishing a "hard news story."

What Bob omits and/or ignores is that these stories are written all the time about all of the candidates. For instance, here's a New York Times (!) story about Mitt Romney and his wonderful family on the campaign trail. Here's an AP story about Mike Huckabee campaigning with former pro wrestler Ric Flair. Over here, you'll find another AP story about various candidates performing good deeds on Thanksgiving.

But Bob doesn't tell you about all these other puff pieces written about the candidates? Why? Because it doesn't fit in with his made-up, nonsensical narrative about how the mainstream media is helping Hillary. Why does Bob want to push this narrative? God only knows...

The Discovery Institute

Bob was yet another rerun today. So, I thought I'd bring you this little nugget about Bob's pals at The Discovery Institute. They're the folks who have been pushing creation science intelligent design as a scientific theory; an assertion that was harshly dispelled by a Bush-appointed federal judge in the Kitzmiller v. Dover trial back in 2005.

Well, it turns out they plagiarists and thieves as well. Behold, Discovery Institute fellow William Dembski was recently caught copying, altering, and exhibiting a presentation that was created by Harvard University without their permission.

Why is this a big deal? First, it shows that these people are dishonest. Remember, "thou shalt not bear false witness." Second, it shows that they are devoid of original thought or effort. If they can't even prepare their own presentations, how can they possibly be doing useful scientific research?

In light of these facts, I'm sure Bob will have someone from DI on the show very soon.

Does Bob have Faith in his Faith?

The fantasy film The Golden Compass will premier in theaters on December 5. The film stars Dakota Blue Richards, Nicole Kidman, and Daniel Craig, and is based on the first book of the His Dark Materials trilogy written by British author Phillip Pullman.

But Pullman is an atheist and the novels have an anti-religious slant to them. Therefore, Bob and his religious right buddies are gearing up to warn parents to stay away from the film. Bob has talked negatively about the books several times already. James Dobson links to an article calling Pullman "blasphemous", "heretical", "diabolical", and a "poisonous influence." William Donohue calls for a boycott and says that Pullman is "fueled by hate." Donohue will also provide a downloadable booklet explaining the evilness of the film and books so long as you provide Donohue with $5.

Well, Bob is more than welcome to warn his listeners about the dangerous of seeing this film. But I have to wonder: Why is this necessary? What is Bob afraid of? Can Bob's belief system not withstand a challenge? Why should Bob worry about what some silly British atheist has to say? After all, Bob has the Top 10 Proofs that Christianity is the Only True Religion!

Bob says, "I told you so"; but he's wrong again

There's good news from scientific researchers in Japan. As PZ Meyers explains, the researchers have figured out how to reprogram adult cells into a state that is nearly indistinguishable from that of embryonic, pluripotent stem cells.

Bob is all excited about this; as we all should be. The use of pluripotent stem cells will hopefully provide life saving breakthroughs in medicine. But Bob seems to be more excited about throwing out a "we told you so". In fact, Bob is wrong as usual.

Bob has stated time and time again, as he did again today, that "embryonic stem cell research has produced no results." This is absolutely wrong. In fact, embryonic stem cell research was necessary to arrive at this discovery! The Washington Post reports that:

One of the researchers involved in yesterday's reports said the Bush restrictions may have slowed discovery of the new method, since scientists first had to study embryonic cells to find out how to accomplish the same thing without embryos.

"My feeling is that the political controversy set the field back four or five years," said James Thomson, who led a team at the University of Wisconsin and who discovered human embryonic stem cells in 1998.

So good job, Bob! You, Bush, and your ilk have successfully done nothing but delay. Way to go!

The Evil, Evil "Hollywood Left"

On Monday, Bob "reported" on an article in the Washington Times claiming that certain Hollywood actors are afraid to reveal that they give money to Republican Party candidates.

Bob, of course, is predictably outraged by all this and ranted about this "injustice." You really have to listen to his voice to fully appreciate the vitriol. In case you can't listen via the link, his rant went something like this:
I want you to keep in mind, the very people, the very Hollywood leftists who would ruin the careers or blackball any of these conservative Hollywood actors who are afraid to come out of the closet, the very people who would damage their careers are also the very people who are preaching tolerance and inclusiveness. Have you noticed this? The very same people that say, 'you need to quit being so narrow minded and so bigoted and so exclusionary in your thinking, you need to be tolerant and welcoming of all different views and opinions'; the very crowd, the very tolerance police, are the ones conservative Hollywood actors are afraid of because they don't want to come out of the closet and have their careers ruined. ... I just want you to remember this the next time you hear Rosie O'Donnell or any of the rest of them from the Hollywood left preaching 'tolerance' and 'inclusiveness'. Just remember that next time you hear that.
This is standard Bob Dutko. It happens every day on the show. But, there is so, so much stupid here, it's hard to sort out. Nevertheless, I'm going to give it a try.

First of all, Bob, and the Washington Times article, have provided absolutely no evidence that the reason that these actors don't want to talk about their political preferences is that they fear some sort of "blacklisting" or other negative effect on their career. There are numerous reasons why an actor, or anybody else for that matter, might not want to talk about their political preferences (e.g., they like to keep such things private, they don't want to alienate their fans, they're busy, they don't like nosy reporters, etc.). In fact, Bob listed a bunch of actors who do talk about their support for Republicans! Therefore, this doesn't appear to be a widespread problem.

Second, Bob goes on to claim that this persecution of conservatives is being done by some entity known as the "Hollywood left" which apparently includes Rosie O'Donnell. What in God's name is he talking about? Does he really believe that Rosie and a bunch of her associates are controlling the casting decisions in Hollywood? Is Bob delusional? Does he make this stuff up?

Third, Bob wants us to "remember" this outrage the next time the "Hollywood left" talks about being tolerant and inclusive. To be honest, I don't listen to a lot of lectures from actors, but I've never heard an actor even attempt to lecture me about being tolerant and inclusive. Personally, I think tolerance is a good thing. Does Bob?

Lastly, I just have to think that what Bob is doing here is attempting to develop hatred and division in general. Bob clearly wants his audience to hate and despise this phantom group he calls the "Hollywood left." It reminds me of the Orwell novel 1984, where the workers participate in a "Two Minutes Hate" every day to reinforce their loathing of the enemies of the Party.

Hopefully, Bob will turn away from these false, divisive tactics. Perhaps he'll recall James 1:19-20 which says, "wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God."

Does Bob eat live puppies in front of schoolchildren?

Well, I certainly doubt that he does. After all, last time I checked, live puppies weren't on The Maker's Diet.

But Bob has a nasty habit of asking such insinuative questions. Of course, these types of derogatory "questions" aren't meant to be answered. Instead, Bob uses them simply to imply something in a negative fashion. Of course, Bob will target these "questions" towards his favorite targets: Democrats, the ACLU, Rev. Al Sharpton, "secularists", etc.

For instance, today Bob asked, "was Hillary involved in any intimidation tactics or smear campaigns?" Now just think about that. Wat the heck is Bob implying? Bob has absolutely no evidence that Hillary was involved in any "intimidation tactics" or "smear campaigns." If he did, he'd present such evidence.

Instead, Bob is the one doing the smearing.

Are these the tactics of a religious person? I ask this in all seriousness: Would Jesus approve of Bob's techniques?

Gay-friendly Churches

Bob spent some time today blacklisting gay friendly churches by outing them on the air and encouraging them to get their names removed from this list. He compared gay friendly churches to being "drunkenness friendly."*

But Bob doesn't hate gay people. He just wants to make sure that no churches welcome them. Kind of like shunning or excommunication or something like that.

*(I always thought drunks were welcome at church! Shows what I know)

Violent Video Games

Bob wants the government to ban video games with content that he doesn't agree with. Specifically, Bob is against video games that involve a lot of violence or torture.

Of course, this doesn't make any sense. Bob supports the Iraq War, so we know he likes senseless violence. And he's also said that torture is sometimes necessary. So why would Bob want to deny the general population these valuable training aids?

But this is just part of Bob's never-ending quest to use the power of the government to take away your rights and freedoms. I guess Bob doesn't think that adults should be able to make their own choice as to what games they want to play.
